Rye Art Gallery was formed in 1957 by the artist Mary Stormont, who bequeathed her studio house and art collection. This bequest was later supplemented by the bequest of a second building by the artist and Trustee Eileen Easton. The Permanent Collection of some 450 paintings, prints, drawings, and sculpture is shown by rotation. Additionally, selling exhibitions and sales of contemporary art and craft by local, regional, and nationally recognised artists place the gallery in an important position, and contribute to the culturally vibrant and historically important town of Rye in East Sussex.
Can you now help to deliver the next and important phase of the development of the Rye Art Gallery into an exciting and significant cultural centre?
We are seeking a creative, forward thinking, and commercially experienced professional, who will see this as an exciting opportuntity to lead in the integration and expansion of the Gallery offer and brand.
With excellent communication, people, financial management, and strategic planning skills, you will be integral to the direction of a critical phase in the Gallery’s development and history.
Qualified to graduate level, preferably in an arts related discipline, you will have experience of working in a similar role or responsible position in the Visual and Creative Arts sector, and you will be excellent in leading, developing, and motivating permanent staff and volunteers alike.
