Job Title: Creative Manager
Reports To: Director of Research and Innovation
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE

Small Media is looking for a Creative Manager who doesn’t shy away from responsibility or a hefty challenge. You’ll have a wealth of relevant experience and will be confident leading and managing a small but growing team of creatives that includes classic graphic designers as well as UX and UI developers. You’ll be a strong, inspiring and creative leader, whose enthusiasm and passion for your work is contagious.
You will determine the best ways for us to visually represent our company’s identity online and in print, and will develop high-level concepts for design projects. We work a lot with external clients and on joint ventures, so you should be confident and comfortable articulating your ideas to a wide variety of stakeholders.
We often work with complex quantitative and qualitative data. This might be gathered through in-house research of provided to us via an external client, but you will have experience in visualising these types of data in engaging, understandable and visually appealing ways.
In a nutshell you will:
Lead a team of UX/UI designers and graphic designers from concept stage right through to development and delivery
Lead creative sessions for project kick-offs
Work with internal teams to generate ideas for pitching and proposals
Work with an interdisciplinary team and help them to conceptualise, design and develop their ideas
Rely on your impeccable communication skills to relay your evaluative judgements to staff and clients
Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through completion
Establish creative direction for all internal and external projects
Inspire your team to do their best work, even under challenging circumstances
Draw up budgets and schedules for projects
Ensure the timely development and execution of projects
Undergraduate degree in Fine Arts or a related field; graduate degree preferred
A minimum of 2 years experience managing a creative team, with proven experience in leading and directing junior designers
A minimum of 5 years working experience in design
Advanced knowledge and technical capabilities in creative graphic design, including a high-level understanding of design principles, and a general understanding of website design
Must have print and web design capabilities and know how to work in both media; confident with production processes for both online and offline
Proven ability to lead and direct junior designers
Confidence in leadership and management of an agile team
Experience in data visualisation and information design
Experience managing multiple deadlines across a variety of projects
Killer Adobe Master Suite CC skills (mainly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
